Coach’s Bio

Coach Painton is entering his 16th year as head coach of the Renegades and his 29th year coaching overall.  Painton grew up in the Orange County area and attended Excelsior high school where he was a standout baseball and football player. After high school, he went on to Fullerton junior college before accepting a baseball scholarship to play at Fresno State University under Hall of Fame coach Bob Bennett.  After his senior year at Fresno State, Painton was drafted by the San Francisco Giants.  He spent a couple years in the minors with the Giants and Angels organizations.

Once his playing days were over, Painton returned to Fresno State where he received his bachelor's and master's degree.  He spent 10 years as assistant before taking the head coaching job at Porterville College where he spent 3 years.  Through his first 15 seasons at BC, Painton has helped over 120 of his sophomores sign letters of intent to continue their careers at 4-year colleges and universities.  Also during that time he has seen over 40 players get drafted including back-to-back 1st round picks in Colby Lewis (1999) and Phillip Dumatrait (2000), followed by 3rd round pick Jake Woods (2001).  Painton was inducted into the Fresno State Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 for his contributions as both a player and assistant coach.

Under Painton's guidance the Renegades have made the playoffs 8 times while reaching the Super Regionals 3 times.  The 2006 Renegade squad were Western State Conference South Champions and hosted the Regionals for the first time in school history.  The Renegades have produced 13 All-Americans in the last 15 seasons with 2010 catcher Dylan Nasiatka garnering American Baseball Coaches Association All-American honors.

Tim and his wife Kim reside in Bakersfield with their two children Tyler and McKenna.
