Bakersfield College

The Delano College Center Foundation was established in 1975 to ensure that no student would be turned away from the Center for lack of money. This foundation has distributed over $250,000.00 in scholarships, grants, and gifts to the students of the Delano Campus. The Delano College Center Foundation holds a yearly scholarship awards night near the end of each Spring semester. This yearly event honors contributors, scholarship award winners, and their families. This annual even is held in Delano and the public, including civic, business, and educational leaders, students and staff, regularly attend.

The Foundation also hosts a fundraising Speakers Forum. One forum is held each year. This forum brings national and local speakers to Delano to speak on a variety of topics.

March 20, 2008

Dear civic member:

It is the time of year when we prepare to offer scholarships to the students attending Bakersfield College at the Delano Campus.  Our organization is dedicated to supporting our local citizenry in the pursuit of their educational goals.  Funds raised will go directly to benefit local students.  To offer this support we seek assistance from caring and concerned individuals, merchants, organizations, and corporations.  We are asking for contributions to support our students.  Contributions can be in the form or cash donations, scholarship sponsorship, services offered, and volunteering of your time.

Our Vision

The Delano College Foundation, in partnership with the community, will assist in providing a learning environment that fosters respect for individuals and ideas, and opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to be competent, self-sufficient, and participating citizens.

Our Mission

To solicit, raise, and distribute monies, properties, and other assets to improve instruction and award financial assistance to aid students at The Delano Center.

Our Motto

No student will be turned away for lack of ability to pay!

Our Goals

-To promote the general welfare of the Delano Campus of Bakersfield College

-To assist students with the financial burden of attending college

-To build a bridge between the local community and the Delano Campus

-To assist and support the Delano Campus in the attainment of educational, cultural, and scientific goals

About the Foundation

The Delano College Center Foundation was established in 1965 to ensure that no student would be turned away from the Center for lack of money.  Endowments, contributions, grants, and donations are solicited for that purpose.  The Delano College Foundation is a non-profit organization as stated in Internal Revenue Service Code 501 (c) (3).  Since its beginning, the Delano College Center Foundation has distributed over $500,000 in scholarships, grants, and gifts to the students of the Delano Campus.  Additionally, the foundation awards monies to ensure the environment of the center is conducive to fostering a positive learning environment.  The Delano College Foundation has a firm belief in providing this assistance with equal opportunity for all students.

The Delano College Center Foundation holds a yearly scholarship awards night on or around the end of the Spring Semester.  This yearly event honors contributors, outstanding educators, scholarship award winners, and their families.  This event is held in Delano and the public, to include civic, business, and educational leaders, regularly attend.  The contributors have the opportunity to personally award their contributions to students deemed worthy.  The Delano College Center Foundation produces an annual report of awards and their recipients.  Additionally, the Delano College Center Foundation places ads in and provides press releases to the Bakersfield Californian and Delano Record newspapers acknowledging contributors.

Please assist us in helping students complete their dreams.  Without your support, many students may not be able cover the ever increasing costs of purchasing textbooks.  This simple gesture of support may lead to a whole new life for a potential student.  Thank you for you time and consideration.
