Why consider Bakersfield College?
Bakersfield College (BC), founded in 1913, is one of the oldest continually operating two year community colleges in California, and has repetition of over 95 years of excellence. A quality undergraduate education is offered to students on a friendly campus with small class sizes, advanced technology, and a variety of diverse experiences. It is located in the Central California, 100 miles north of Los Angeles.
The college serves 19,000 students on the 153 acre main campus in northeast Bakersfield, and at the Bakersfield College Delano Campus 35 miles north of Bakersfield. Bakersfield College is recognized by its quality education and it is comparable to the first two years of university in the United States. Students are encouraged to pursue a program of study leading to the certificate, associate degree or preparation for transfer to a four-year university.
What We Offer
- Strong academic programs: Bakersfield College offers more than 81 majors and 23 certificated programs that are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
- Classes are smaller in size and taught by professors, not teaching assistants.
- Bakersfield College's students may earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, or complete lower division and general education requirements to transfer to a four year college/university.
- Bakersfield College's Fall 2010 semester enrolled 19,673 students, which created a large and diverse student body.
- Strong English as a Second Language Program and Courses, which allows international students to successfully begin their academic studies.
- Located in sunny Central California: 118 miles north of Las Angeles in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
