AUGUST-SEPTEMBER-one year before you plan on transferring:
__ Visit the Transfer Center in the Counseling Office for the latest information on all the CSU/UC and private colleges and universities.
__ Transfer Admission Agreements (TAA): Guarantee your admission to your transfer school! See the transfer counselor for eligibility requirements and criteria. TAAs are available with 8 schools: UC Davis, Merced, Santa Barbara, Riverside, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Irvine and CSU Northridge! Deadlines for agreements to be submitted are in September and October a year before you plan on transferring, so make your appointment today with Sue Granger-Dickson, Transfer Counselor— (661) 395-4421.
__Begin working on your UC Personal Statement. http://students.berkeley.edu/apa/personalstatement/
OCTOBER-NOVEMBER:
__ November 30 is the deadline to submit a CSU or UC Application for Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships, available online at:
1.) CSU APPLICATION: http://www.csumentor.edu CSU filing periods: Applications for Fall are accepted October 1 – November 30 of the prior year; New! Applications for Winter and Spring are currently available for CSUB only.
2.) UC APPLICATION: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergradapp/ UC filing periods Fall: November 1 – November 30; no mid-year transfers at this point in time.
** IMPORTANT: Check your e-mail regularly. Campuses are increasingly using e-mail to send critical, time-sensitive correspondence to student applicants.
JANUARY-FEBRUARY:
__ File or renew your Federal Financial Aid Application (FAFSA) designating the CSU or UC you are planning to attend. Submit your application electronically on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov . BC’s financial aid advisors can assist you with questions you might have about the FAFSA. Remember, you must submit or renew your application each academic year. Applications are available beginning in January. The priority filing date is March 2nd. Keep in mind that this is a lengthy process taking up to 3 to 4 months, so it is important to apply early! Check the CSU or UC website for their Federal School Code.
__Complete your applications, personal statements, essays, and letters of recommendations for private colleges and universities.
__ Begin looking at housing options at your potential CSU or UC campus. On campus housing usually has strict application deadlines. Be informed!
MARCH—APRIL
__ All colleges and universities begin admission notifications.
MAY/JUNE
__ Complete spring classes and send official transcripts to the CSU/UC of your choice. Make sure you check the IGETC or CSU general education certification box on the BC transcript request form. Transcripts should be mailed to the Undergraduate Admissions Office unless otherwise stated.
__June 1st is the deadline to submit your Intent to Register form.
__If you have not already done so, attend a summer advising registration and orientation program at your chosen CSU or UC in order to register for classes.
JULY
__ Submit official transcripts of courses taken in the summer to your CSU/UC. Make sure you check the IGETC or CSU general education certification box on the BC transcript request form.
